Introduction on the mandate and the services provided by SGS: Pre-Shipment Inspection (PSI) of Imports for Iran

Start Date: January 2000

Scope of the Mandate: Quality & Quantity, Packing, supervision of loading.

Description of the Services Provided by SGS:

   a)  Physical identification of goods, either in the
         country of supply or at destination;
   b)  Sealing of containers;
   c)  Price verification;
   d)  Customs’ classification in accordance to
         nomenclature in force in the country;
   e)  Joint re-inspection at destination;

   Furthermore SGS provides related services which
   may include:

   f)  Training of designated local staff, as designated
         by local authorities, following appropriate
         planning agreed upon in advance.
   g)  Assistance to customs’ modernization;
   h)  Public information/education campaign
   i)  Transfer of equipment.
