Scope of the Mandate In view of the sensitive nitrogen content of Nitro Cellulose (NC) it constitutes an explosive raw material that may be used for military purposes as well as a raw or supporting material for certain industrial processes. It may be misused for destructive purposes and for disturbing security, and as such there is a need to control its procurement.
Description of Actual Services Provided by the SGS Staff In its capacity as the sub contractor of the Surveyor named in the Decree for the verification or technical survey of NC imports, SGS verifies that producers/importers are duly licensed and allowed to import NC for production process needs and also verifies the chemical composition, the level of purity, quantity, labeling, classification and origin of the NC.
