Introduction on the mandate and the services provided by SGS: GOEIC scheme  Conformity Assessment Services against mandatory Egyptian Standards

Main objectives: Quality assessment of imports

Service Mandated By: Government Office for Export and Import Control (GOEIC)

Starting Date: SGS has been accredited by GOEIC, Ministerial Decree N° 801 for 2001 registered on 13/10/2001

Scope of the Mandate
To assess the conformity of imported non-food products with Egyptian standards or International standards as applicable and to issue the corresponding certificates of conformity.

The certificate of conformity attests that products imported:

  • Fully comply with applicable Egyptian standards for goods on the mandatory list or
  • Fully comply with Egyptian standards or Internationally accepted standards as listed under chapter 3 and as specifically designated by the importer prior to importation.

In both cases, fully comply with the labelling requirements.

Certification can be performed either before shipment in the country of the origin of the goods or upon arrival in Egypt by GOEIC.

SGS in the country of origin should actively promote this service to local exporters.

Description of the Services Provided by SGS: In summary, the system consists of inspection, sampling and testing in laboratories accredited by a national accreditation body or otherwise registered by our Group. It may also include the audit of the manufacture’s quality assurance system.
